Introduction to the Polish art of cross-cutting (early Polish sabre fencing)

This class is about Polish sabre fencing in the 16th and 17th century based on Francesco Antonio Marcelli’s sabre section (1686) aswell as written and iconographic sources from Poland and Hungary and their relations to Starzewski’s treatise. This class will show you the sabre as an ancient weapon: extremely powerful and violent in their simplicity.

This class envolves:

  • Information about sabre constructions and their influence on fighting techniques according to the mechanics of human body
  • Footwork exercises
  • Basic cuts (precision and strength exercises)
  • Cutting combination
  • Cross-cutting techniques

Required equipment: sticks
